Y’all, Ted and I had the absolute best time in Cinnamon Shore that I felt like I had to share! We stayed there this past weekend for a small getaway since we desperately needed it and I felt like I was on cloud nine. I don’t know if it was how cute Cinnamon Shore was or how giddy I was spending the weekend with the husband, but it was much, much needed! The kid makes me laugh more than anyone I have ever met and the thought of going on all these trips without him is so sad. He isn’t going to Cancun with me, but I am so excited to meet him back up again in South Korea! What does stink is we don’t get to travel 18+ hours together since he has to leave Saturday and I still will be in Cancun, but I guess that means I will fall asleep on some strangers arms (accidentally, of course) instead of his :/ ANYWAYS, I wanted to share a little about this hidden gem in Texas because we were blown away!

Cinnamon Shore is an adorable community on Mustang Island (or you might be familiar with Port Aransas) only a couple hour drive from Houston. We both have been to that side of the beach before growing up, but never together. My dad was a beachaholic so we always, always would take trips to Port Aransas to fish and stay on the beach! Once we arrived we learned that Cinnamon Shore just wasn’t an area with cute houses. They had EVERYTHING all in one community. When I say everything, I mean everything! We didn’t even use our car the entire weekend. We rented a golf cart (which you NEED to do) and I felt like a kid again. Something about driving a gold cart around was so exciting to me! The community had a “town center” where they had live music and lawn chairs right next to the restaurant. It was literally magical! It reminded me of Seaside, which I mentioned to one of the girls that worked at Cinnamon Shore and she said that is exactly what the builders had in mind. They took the idea of Seaside (you can find my blog post of a travel guide for Seaside here) and they replicated it since Texas needed something like it! It is very family friendly and I am so ready to plan another trip back already!

Catch & Release: We stayed at an ADORABLE 2 bedroom condo called Catch & Release. It was literally perfect. Every decor detail was thought of and it just made me happy. I loved that we had a patio view of the town center and could enjoy the live band while we were getting ready. HIGHLY recommend this cute condo!

Lisabella: perfect dinner spot. Was in the center of Town and I wanted basically everything on the menu! We started with the warm goat cheese and lobster bisque which was magical. Reservations is recommended! I wish we reserved for outside so we could have enjoyed the live band and watched the kids play on the lawn, but inside was just as nice!

Seaside Cafe: We ate and drank here for lunch and it was delicious. It is their pool cafe, but the food was impressive! I loved, loved the grilled shrimp to start as an appetizer and their fish tacos were yummmm! We took our beers from here and filled them in our Yeti’s before hitting the beach!

Instead of “city spots”, I would say accommodations in Cinnamon shore. They are very heavy on community and providing the best accommodations to your stay, so they have tons to offer. Keep in mind, I am not even listing them all, only the ones we used! I mean they even have yoga on the beach, which sadly we missed!

Texas Monthly: So the Texas Monthly magazine has their Gulf Coast Show Room on the property and it was so much fun to tour the picture perfect house. We got so many ideas and were so inspired by the decor! What’s funny is growing up, my mom use to always just take us to RANDOM open houses, we weren’t even in the market to buy, she just wanted to check out the layout and decor, so this was right up my alley!

Golf Carts: Like I mentioned, probably highlight of the trip. The fact that you can golf cart to the cafe or to stop and get ice cream is glorious. I think my favorite part was being able to golf cart to the beach. Imagine carrying your bags and beach chairs to the beach, well you don’t have to do that here. You can back up the golf cart and literally park your cart on the beach. It has to be the most genius thing EVER.

Beach Service: They provide lawn chair and umbrellas so you don’t have to haul all those things over to the beach. Having someone take care of that is wonderful!

2 Pools: They have 2 pools on property, one that is byob and one that you can purchase from the cafe. The cafe pool is a bit smaller, but has an infinity look to the lakes. The byob pool is a lap pool size that is a GREAT size and where Ted and I spent a lot more time.

I am sure I missed a ton of information, so if you are interested in learning more, be sure to check out their website!

Charleston literally did not disappoint! I feel like it has been the hot spot to go over the years and I had to go see for myself. Everything from pink doors to oyster bars, it was Southern perfection. I was so excited to go on this trip with my blogger girls Life to Lauren & Kailey from Double Shot of Sass. We literally ate & drank our way through Charleston but what else is there to do in the South?! I definitely want to go back and take the hubs. We only had 2 nights so will want to do the plantation tours next time we are back! Would love to hear your favorites when in Charleston below!

  • The Dewberry Hotel: I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. We debated staying at The Restoration, Zero George, Hotel Vendue, etc but we are so glad we decided to go with Dewberry! The staff was amazing, always so helpful and kind, and the rooms were to die for. Full of white marble, gold mirrors, chandeliers, a floor to celling drapes. We also were obsessed with the location. It was walking distance to King Street and just around the corner from everything. There was a Walgreens a block away they we stopped at and they currently are building a rooftop bar! We also had one our favorite brunch spots here!

  • The Park Cafe: Went for Happy Hour && ordered a cheese board. It was a good first stop but kinda in a strange area. Also got Avocado toast which was yummy!
  • The Darling Oyster Bar: Got one of each oyster and loved how the waiter was very informative and explained the oysters.  Brussels were also so good! Just the cutest environment and a must! Every Uber driver recommended it. Be sure to make reservations!
  • Brunch at Hominy Grill: everyone loved the grits & pancakes
  • Stopped into goat sheep cow but didn’t have a place to sit and eat so walked to Hotel at Vendue for drinks on the rooftop. The view was meh but a good artichoke crab dip. Ask for cucumbers with it!
  • Had drinks at Zero George before dinner and it was THE CUTEST little place. Perfect wrap around porch seating.
  • Went to dinner at La Farfalle and by far our favorite meal. Had the duck confit pasta and SO GOOD. I can’t wait to go back just for the pasta.
  • Rooftop bar at the market pavilion. Such a stunning view even if it was at night. I bet the view during the day is even better!
  • Had breakfast at The Dewberry hotels restaurant. Probably the best brunch. White marble tables outside and had the breakfast sand which which was yum Yum
  • We didn’t get a chance to go to The Ordinary for happy hour oysters but was recommended!
  • Peninsula Grill was recommended by our Uber driver for some coconut cake & champagne to end the night. We got here one night after it closed and was SO bummed! I want to go back just for this!

  • Woke up and shot on rainbow row
  • Looked around the neighborhoods. Walked to Battery, was meh
  • Walked around kings street and shopped. Loved The Skinny Dip, Candle Fish!
  • Biked to do some last minute shopping before headed to the airport
  • On one street, there is a market where tons of booths are set up! logo

I planned a log cabin getaway last weekend for Mothers’ day and wanted to share a little about our stay!  Mother brought 3 of her sisters, my aunties and their husbands, and my sister, so it definitely was not a relaxing getaway haha. I grew up going to Fredericksburg pretty much my entire life since my half sister lives there. She was my dads first born, and we would go to the hill country 2-3 times a year to visit her and her two boys. Her boys are around Katy and I’s age, so we always would attend their football games and spend time with them on their property. This was actually my first time at a Fredericksburg winery, which is crazy to me since they have a bajillion wineries on their main road!

We checked into The Legacy Hideaway that was a little down the road from town. We typically stay at my sisters’, but having our own getaway house for 8 was much needed! I loved seeing deer on the way to the property and the little blue house accommodated all our needs! There are 3 rooms and one of the beds was a pull out from in the wall, which I have never seen in real life! I shared a picture above. We loved spending time around the bonfire roasting marshmallows, but us city girls did not last long haha. We got too scared of any sound we heard and ran inside after thinking a bear was coming out of the woods, but in reality it was an armadillo. #pathetic

We only got to visit one winery, but luckily we picked the one that everyone loved! We went to Grape Creek and it is a must! They have such a pretty view of the vineyards while sitting outside. Somehow I walked out becoming a member, but I’m not complaining! Haha their wines were too good not to pass up and to get a box to my front door every couple months sounds amazing to me!

My oldest sister also opened a wedding venue, which I am so stinking proud of for her! If you know me, you know I am a sucker for all things weddings and probably a life dream of mine. I was so excited to finally see the property in real life and Y’ALL, it’s amazing! Any and every bride would be so lucky to get married in the hill country at her open spaced venue. We all were just wishing dad was there to see her accomplishments! If you are looking for a destination wedding in the hill country, check out Featherstone Ranch! I mean who wouldn’t want to get married on a peaceful acre and have wineries be the main attraction for your guests!

I was in Seaside longer than some of my Europe vacations so if you ask me, I feel like I conquered 30a and have lots of suggestions! I had a friend get married in Rosemary beach last summer and I had an idea of how cute the area 30a was but really was surprised with my stay. 30a has so many different areas and restaurants to offer and you can’t forget about the crystal blue water! After the trip, I had so many friends letting me know they are visiting 30a this summer! If you plan to visit, be sure to bookmark this page for recommendations on where to stay, eat, and do. Rent30a and Livewell30a have also generously offered a 10% discount code for you all (use livewellbuttercup)! This includes their huge selection of beach houses, beach chairs, bikes, beach bonfires, kayaks, paddle boards, etc! They make booking a family / girls trip vacation so EASY. Everything was planned for us and well thought of when we arrived!

Stay:

  • Rent 30a Beach House: our beach house fit 8 of us and it was so nice to be on the beach! We stacked up on snacks and it was so much fun to have a giant sleep over in one house! As long as you are staying along 30a, you are very close to everything! Some popular areas: Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove, Alys Beach, Rosemary, and Inlet!

Food:

  • Fonville: in Alys Beach, my fav, so it was the perfect
  • Charlies Donuts: Also a good breakfast spot for donuts in Alys Beach. Be sure to go early because once they sell out, they close!
  • Mile Marker 15 (The Hub): Had a huge plate of nachos and we were obsessed with the fried grouper!
  • 45 Central Square: Wine & tapas. Say no more! We did a wine tasting and my favorite was the Unparalleled. I need to look up that wine and order some! I also remember the grapefruit shaved ice for dessert that was the perfect ending to the night with some moscato!
  • Chiringo: this was in Grayton beach but it was a really cool, open air bar with fresh fruit juices/ cocktails. All their food is made fresh! They had a smoked snapper dip special, which isn’t on the menu, which was ahmazing. We actually ordered a second one because it was so good.
  • *La Crema: was one of my fav dinner spots. We sat outside and I had a view of the Pearl Hotel which was so pretty! This was another tapa and wine place which I loved! We ordered cheese and chocolate fondue which was also divine. Highly recommend this place!
  • Caliza: This was our fancy dinner spot! It’s also in Alys beach and definitely my favorite environment! Ted would have LOVED this place. I need to take him back and go here for date night.
  • Other Places: Georges (sad we didn’t get a chance to eat here but have heard nothing but good reviews), Chicken Salad Chick (far and had nats, wouldn’t recommend) & La Cocina (no one does Mexican like Texas so this was our mistake, wouldn’t recommend). Jamie from 30A Street Style recommended some of these places that we didn’t get a chance to go to: Cowgirl Kitchen, Georges, Sunset Cocktails and Bud & Alleys, grill cheese at the Melt Down, oysters at the Great southern, Costa Rican bowl at Raw & Juicy!

Drinks:

  • *The Pearl: The Pear is a cute hotel in Rosemary Beach! It’s has a black and white striped theme with pops of yellow. It just makes you happy! Go inside and head to the rooftop bar for a drink.
  • The Hub Bar: This is where the Mile Marker, above is! Such a cute outdoor space with tons of food options, live band, and outdoor activities.

City Spots:

  • The Hub: Full of restaurants, live music, ice cream / bar and a lawn for corn hole and activities. People where there to watch the NFL draft and hang out!
  • Alys Beach: I died at Alys Beach and WILL go back. It was my favorite white little area. I was obsessed. I tried to make a stop every chance we got! Just walking the big white houses were so much fun.
  • Rosemary: You have to walk all these small little towns. Rosemary has an adorable Post Office and such cute shopping places.
  • Seaside: Another cute little town with restaurants, a cute Post Office, and shopping!

Extra:

  • Shrimp Boil: This makes the best memories! Who doesn’t love shrimp boils with some yummy corn and potatoes. I want to go back to this memory. It was one of my favorites!
  • Chef 30a: Sometimes it’s exhausting staying in a beach house and the same people end up cleaning and cooking the entire time. Treat your family to a nice brunch where no one has to life a finger!
  • Bonfire: We had a bonfire on the beach one night before the shrimp boil and it made my heart so happy! I LOVE being warm so a fire while watching the sun go down was glorious.
  • Sunset: I am a sunset chaser so be sure to be outside either on a beach or a rooftop patio one evening while you are there to watch the sunset. It’s stunning!

I couldn’t be more grateful for visiting 30a and getting to know all the other girls on the trip!  Jessica- Lipstick Heels and a Baby  coordinated the entire trip and I couldn’t have been more grateful to be invited! She lives on 30a and knows all the best spots. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! I definitely am headed back to Seaside and taking the hubs with me this time!
