Only two more months until 2017, say it ain’t so?! I am so thankful for 2016 in so many ways and I am excited to finish off the year strong. We have an amazing trip planned and a bunch of fall looks, Christmas gift ideas, and New Years shindigs. With the Holidays quickly approaching its always smart to start preparing to enjoy the busy season!
Life: Not much happened this month besides some personal changes. It was a month full of realizations, dedication to my goals, eating out a lot, and dressing up for Halloween.
I feel like most people miss the basics, including me. I usually tend to grab the cute trendy items while shopping which always leaves me with nothing to wear for those “I don’t feel like making a statement” days. Since fall is officially here, I wanted to break down some fall basics you will need and, will constantly be grabbing all season long!
Cashmere Sweater: Lightweight sweaters are the BEST and my go to. This cashmere sweater is extremely soft and comes in 11 different colors. Camel colors for fall are huge right now and a good essential color! I also think I need the burgundy color which is also another hot fall color this season. This sweater is perfect for layering whether thats a flannel underneath or a big coat over it when winter comes along.
Dark Denim: Good American jeans just got launched last week, and I had to try them to see what all the rage was about. I am going to be honest here and let you know the only way I knew about Good American was through the Kylie Jenners snapchat (#guilty #pleasedonthateme #ijusthadtogetthatoffmychest). Dark denim / dark hues, your earthy colors are what falls all about and you will constantly be grabbing your dark denim this season. These Good American jeans were SUPER comfortable and the perfect stretchy, soft material. The only sad part about them is they run super super big. I would recommend maybe even going two sizes down.
Plaid Scarf: Now you know its officially fall when everyone brings out their plaid scarf. It’s such an easy way to dress up an outfit and also keep you warm. This wool scarf has such pretty colors and is officially my favorite. Like imagine the outfit without the scarf? It would still be cute but it would be alright.
Booties: My booties are super old and I bought like 5 pairs after this one but I keep going back to it. Find a bootie thats comfortable, a good color, and you’re set. They also last multiple seasons so splurging for the right pair isn’t a bad idea. Mine are so dirty but I love the style of it, that I was so excited to find brown leather similar ones here that I will be ordering asap.
You know I love free shipping, using my closet as my dressing room, and free easy returns so todays look is by the one and only Nordstrom! Happy Friday babes – I am headed to College Station for a couple of hours to see sissy.
Slacks are not my usual go to but I have had many requests from my 9-5 boss babes to help with their office wear. I found this white dreamy top and immediately thought of you all – I also found the short sleeve version that I LOVE just as much. It’s the perfect sophisticated top for those important meetings lined up that you want to be taken seriously. I remember working in an office where I would specifically choose my attire depending if I had any important meetings that day – anyone else? I would wear my “Sunday Best” when I would head over to corporate to look extra cute but kinda looked broke the rules when I was just at my desk all day. Black slacks were my go to since the office was so dang cold and I was always worried if my dresses were considered “too short” in an office full of men. I wanted to be taken seriously and I think this outfit is the summary of my corporate meeting looks. It’s always so hard to dress for an office without feeling too “officey” so I always remembered to bring in a pop of color on the lips to keep it sassy. Investing in some good pumps and a good bag is also key. After cleaning out my closet when leaving corporate America, I realized I had about 10 black slacks which were all pretty much the same. I only kept a few for just incase emergencies but now I feel like I have about 10 of the same jeans that I also have to go through.
Happy Friday Eve Babes! Especially for you 9-5 chicks I know that’s what I always looked forward too.
I maybe late to the party to share “what to wear tailgating” but I know football lasts another 82397 months (it never ends) so I wanted share what I wore tailgating last week to the Texans game! Fingers crossed that our next tailgate event I will be bundled up in a blanket scarf and layers – but until then, you’ll find me in shorts and cowboy boots. When tailgating in Texas, dressing for the weather is key. It’s so unattractive playing corn hole sweating up a storm so why I chose to go with shorts and a white flowy top for this Sunday football game. White is always a good color to wear to a football team if you’re the home team. Home = white. I always like wearing my own clothes to sports games and adding a flare of team spirit with an accessory. I added a Texans football hat to go with this look and I was ready to tailgate. Cowboy boots also = Texas football must. These affordable cowboy boots are for the ladies that rather spend money on high end shoes and not splurge on the boots.
PS last Sunday was such a great Texans game. We won in overtime and it was wonderful to watch. Sad they lost on Monday night to the Broncos! Maybe next time 🙂 Thanks for stopping by lovelies. Enjoy your hump day.
