Lately, I have been loving the color black in the summer (not usually like me), but I do think there is a certain way black should by styled during these bright hot days. Black is always a safe bet, but during summer I have a few tips to keep your black wardrobe aligned with the season.

  1. Material: I believe material is key since it can be the “make it or break it” to sweating up a storm. This rayon material is perfect for hot days to keep you cooler. Luckily, black also doesn’t show when you are sweating, but you shouldn’t have a problem with that in the right material.
  2. Trend: If you have been following along, off the shoulder has been one of my favorites this summer. No one has said they have fat shoulders, EVER,  so shoulders should be shared with the world! It also screams summer and makes the perfect summer dress.
  3. Pop of Color: I am a huge sucker for mixing black with neon colors, especially during summer to keep it festive. I found these agate pink earrings and immediately fell in love. Something about neon pink with black is pretty much my favorite thing around. The pop of pink with my lip color, bracelets, and earrings make the perfect bright combo.
  4. Heels: I think the key to keeping your black wardrobe “summer-like” is to stick with summer heels. Whether that is tan flip flops, some wedges, or high heels, I love choosing my summer go-to’s.

So basically, I really am obsessing over this perfect black dress that I may have worn three times last week (shh). It’s the perfect material, perfect off the shoulder trend, and the pockets are also a bonus. This dress was a steal from Shop Dress Up ++ I also ordered this striped navy dress that I am sure I will share on the blog soon. You can use code: freedom25 for 25% off your entire order until the end of 7/4.

What are y’all up to today? Yesterday after church we drove into New Braunfels for some tubing fun with 12 of our friends. I can’t describe how much I love tubing. A time to just float under the sun with some good drinks and good company. It makes my heart so happy. I HIGHLY recommend tubing if you ever come visit Texas. Today we plan on all barbecuing and getting some sun before we head back to Houston. I am so sad this holiday weekend has come to an end. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year in my book.
