I am kind of in denial that the holidays are officially over. With the holidays being over, that doesn’t mean the cold weather is over (sadly for me). When traveling and adventuring out in the cold, layering is key to not freezing to death. I first start with a tight tank top to wear under my clothes to keep warm. For this outfit I then put on a flannel button up that was pretty thick like a lumberjack flannel.
Next, I layered with a pullover sweater and topped it off with this double breasted peacoat. I wore this outfit for a day out sightseeing and I will tell you that layers for this Texas girl is much needed. I am already dreaming of those summer days. I did wear my yoga pants with my OTK boots to keep the all black look with the pop of my red flannel as you can see. I also love love love the double breasted buttons that give this a special look. This Guess coat is very similar and I am OBSESSED with it (& its on major sale).
Happy New Years Eve! I am so excited to celebrate 2016 and this metallic dress is perfect for the new year. I love the skater dress cut (flattering on all body types) but still made it so girly with the flare waste line and metallic color. It is perfect for something glittery but not to overboard on sequins. I wanted to share this dress for inspiration for tonight or tomorrows parties you may have coming up. A dress is my go to with some booties and when it gets cold I will put my wrap jacket on that I posted about here.
Since I am taking tomorrow off, we will be traveling back from our cabin, I wanted to leave you with this darling dress. I hope you all have a great New Years! Please be safe out there. Thanks for stopping by (means more than you know) and I can’t wait to spend 2016 with you all!
How adorable is this foil NYE dress perfect for bringing in 2016. I am mad love with high neck lines wether it is a dress or a tee. Something about shoulder bones is so flattering to me (so weird, I know). This foil color is a perfect silver that reminds me of champagne & that is exactly what I will be sipping on to ring in the New Year.
To be honest with you all, 2015 was a rough one. It was filled with so many emotions, friends becoming distant, drama, putting my self out there and taking major risks. It was an exhausting one and one I will not miss. I am excited for the new year and sticking to what I truly love which is this blogging space. I plan on making goals and sticking to it, who else is with me?
Thanks for stopping by Buttercups! Today we leave to a cabin in Segiun, Texas where we will be ringing in NYE with some friends. Follow along on Snapchat & Instagram for adventures. & a heads up, I will not have a blog post up on the 1st of the year. I think taking the day off is appropriate lol
Something about all black is so classic chic to me. If I could, I would just buy all black pieces but then again, what is the fun in that?? I fell in love with this Olivia Pope look alike wrap coat that is so different then your average joe coat. It also comes in plenty of other chic colors. For some reason Nordstrom does not provide sizes in a small so I ordered mine from Amazon here. If only the winters weren’t so short in Texas, I would snag the country apple or dove colors. Of course I had to go comfy with some leggings and OTK boots.
This was taken at the Samuel Adams brewery in Boston. This was such a fun beer tasting and a free activity. It was so interesting learning about the beer process. Below is a recap of my favorite recommendations in Boston
Freedom Trail: we only conquered half of it but is about a 2.5 mile trail of Bostons History
Frog Pond Ice Rink: My favorite stop, ice skating out doors. You can visit my blog post here of what I wore
Quincy Market: cutest little shopping area
Samuel Adams Brewery: pictured above
Restaurants & Bars
Boston Public House: We loved this place so much, we went twice. Great food and atmosphere
Union Oyster House: This is on the freedom trail which was the PERFECT stop for their famous clam chowder and corn bread. This restaurant is Americas oldest restaurant which is pretty darn cool. It felt like an old house which was very comfy after a mile walk on the freedom trail
North Street Grill: One of the best brunch places, it had a long wait so be prepared
Mikes Pastry: is a MUST. The best cannoli’s you will ever have. We kind of accidentally ran into this place on the way home when we noticed everyone on the block had a box so we had to try it. You will not regret it. I am craving one as I type this.
Top of The Hub: This was recommended by many but I was not impressed with the food at all. In fact I was so disappointed I wrote a yelp review lol which rarely happens. I mean the view was spectacular but I would recommend looking up the hours to the Sky Walk which is an outside view of the city and much cheaper than the dinner bill. Sadly we went to late and the Sky Walk was closed
Ogawa Coffee: they have the cutest latte art, if you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the cute snow man, reindeer, and christmas tree
