Lately, I have been loving the color black in the summer (not usually like me), but I do think there is a certain way black should by styled during these bright hot days. Black is always a safe bet, but during summer I have a few tips to keep your black wardrobe aligned with the season.
Material: I believe material is key since it can be the “make it or break it” to sweating up a storm. This rayon material is perfect for hot days to keep you cooler. Luckily, black also doesn’t show when you are sweating, but you shouldn’t have a problem with that in the right material.
Trend: If you have been following along, off the shoulder has been one of my favorites this summer. No one has said they have fat shoulders, EVER, so shoulders should be shared with the world! It also screams summer and makes the perfect summer dress.
Pop of Color: I am a huge sucker for mixing black with neon colors, especially during summer to keep it festive. I found these agate pink earrings and immediately fell in love. Something about neon pink with black is pretty much my favorite thing around. The pop of pink with my lip color, bracelets, and earrings make the perfect bright combo.
Heels: I think the key to keeping your black wardrobe “summer-like” is to stick with summer heels. Whether that is tan flip flops, some wedges, or high heels, I love choosing my summer go-to’s.
So basically, I really am obsessing over this perfect black dress that I may have worn three times last week (shh). It’s the perfect material, perfect off the shoulder trend, and the pockets are also a bonus. This dress was a steal from Shop Dress Up ++ I also ordered this striped navy dress that I am sure I will share on the blog soon. You can use code: freedom25 for 25% off your entire order until the end of 7/4.
What are y’all up to today? Yesterday after church we drove into New Braunfels for some tubing fun with 12 of our friends. I can’t describe how much I love tubing. A time to just float under the sun with some good drinks and good company. It makes my heart so happy. I HIGHLY recommend tubing if you ever come visit Texas. Today we plan on all barbecuing and getting some sun before we head back to Houston. I am so sad this holiday weekend has come to an end. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year in my book.
Happy first of July y’all! July makes me happy and sad all at the same time. It’s a reminder that we are about half way through summer break and thats sad to me. It’s also a chance to continue to check off my summer bucket lists and make new ones. This weekend we are knocking off a couple my bucket list items and hopefully organizing/cleaning out our closet. It’s kinda sad when organizing your closet is on your bucket list but thats called #adulting – ha! This stripe swing dress will be an item I will NOT be throwing out during my closet clean out since it’s the perfect throw on, under $40 and comes in three different colors. I love the tank detail on this darling for those extra hot summer days oh and the lace up back is perfection. This dainty pineapple necklace is also the perfect summer accessory.
I thought it would be fun to list a few of my summer bucket lists below:
Tube (this weekend)
BBQ (this weekend)
Pop fireworks (this weekend)
Hang in Galveston (this weekend)
Go to a real blue water beach
Get VERY tan
Back into shape
Travel to a different country
Go to coffee with 3 new people
Have a lake day
Is that a good enough bucket list? Let me know if I am missing anything! We never did these growing up so its fun to do them now. I also would love to hear your list for the summer! I hope you all stay safe this weekend and I can’t wait to see what you all are up to via snapchat (dederaad) && IG.
Ok but for reals- you try posing for a picture with a RED popsicle in hand, wearing all white in 100 degree weather while your photographer also has a popsicle in his hand and cares more about the popsicle than the photos. Hence the not so pretty laugh and the lack of options to choose to share with you all. I came across Steel City pops in Dallas and fell in love. Especially since Texas heat has been no joke lately, a refreshing tasty popsicle has been the key to my heart. Luckily for us Houstonians, they will be opening on soon in the Heights! So if any of you all want to meet up for a popsicle date, I am your girl.
Now lets talk about this jacket. I know you’re probably thinking ,”You just said its 100 degrees outside, why would you wear a jacket”. Well in Texas it does get that hot but inside we like to use air condition on full blast during summer time. I am always prepared for the summer heat with my outfits but get miserably cold indoors. This jacket is the perfect summer combo. The embroidered details and the cobalt blue is pretty much everything. I got a million and one comments on this bad boy while I was out and about in Dallas last week and I highly recommend it. I love the pop of yellow in this outfit too because BUTTERCUP <3

ONE MORE DAY UNTIL THE FREAKIN HOLIDAY WEEKEND. CHEERS!
When I think sundress I think bright fun colors, a high messy bun, strappy sandals and some big ol glasses to complete a summer look. I did just that and this look is no exception to making my heart so happy that summer is here. A strappy cold shoulder look and these strappy sandals are the perfect pair. I wear these high heels a lot and luckily Nordstrom is price matching for under $70. I recommend snatching them while you can because they are the comfiest high heels I own. Nordstrom obviously has captured my heart for many reasons including price matching but the free shipping and returns gets me every time.
Happy hump day lovers. I really want to say thank you for stoping by. I am not sure what has happened this month but things have been swamped for me. I feel like I am constantly trying to play catch up. I must get my life organized – especially in the midst of crazy Summer season. My friend Jaclyn recommended an app called a-note so I am so excited to check it out! Any tips on staying organized?
