Teal Maxi

Dress: ASTR | Bag: Kayu | Earrings: Kenneth Jay | Shoes: Steve Madden | Lippe: NYX (soft spoken)

I go in and out of phases where I love maxis then I am not a fan of them. Currently I am in the LOVING maxi phases and I brought both of them with me on the trip. This teal one (would even be a cute bridesmaid dress) and this red maxi (favvvv)! I wore this to dinner last night on the beach and was the perfect setting! All the blue feels. I really do think this would make for a cute bridesmaid dress if teal is your color! I also love the clinched waist which is flattering on all body types. Also, high necks are seriously my favorite thing! This dress is under $100 and a major steal!

Any who, happy Tuesday darlings! We have one last day to enjoy Mexico! We are loving this resort so far and I need to sit down with Ted and write up a review for those asking. It’s such a quite peaceful resort and I especially have loved my time with husband. We are constantly go, go, go while at home, so time away and together is always nice!

One Cold Shoulder

Shirt: Topshop | Shorts: Cupcake and cashmere | Shoes: Steve Madden | Earrings: Bauble Bar | Bag: Kayu

I haven’t had a favorite top in a while, but I think this one takes the cake! Especially since it is such a cute “big shirt” to hide my food baby, but then has a cold shoulder look to give you some glam. I wore this outfit to dinner last night in Puerto Vallarta and think it’s so flattering! No one ever said “I don’t like my shoulders” so why not share them off! I loved this top so much, I couldn’t even wait to order it in my size, so I snagged a size 6 at the store. I typically would wear a 4, and you can tell its oversized on me but I didn’t mind! I’m not really a size dictator (unless it’s jeans)!

I also am so excited that I found this bag fully stocked here. I have been wearing it the entire trip and plan to keep wearing it. It is SO darling!!

Anywho, husband and I have a full list of activities today! Yoga, couples massage, and margarita tasting. Sounds like a rough day to me! Ha! Follow along on #raadstravel on IG

From Ted’s point of view….5 Year Anniversary

YOU GUESSED IT! I’m back, reluctantly willingly of course. As a five year anniversary gift to Dede (trust me, there’s more gifts), I’m letting her take the night off and taking over the post for the day. Sucks Good for you guys!

I’m going to start the post off with a picture…..

You’re probably wondering why I started with a picture of Dede crying from our proposal for a wedding anniversary post…(Hey,  I’m writing the post. I don’t need to explain it)

Let me explain.

OVERVIEW. Keeping a secret from Dede is one of the most difficult things to do. When I was planning the proposal, I knew there was one thing I couldn’t do. I couldn’t tell a soul. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to, but the less they knew, the better. Dede does a tremendous job of somehow knowing when a surprise is coming her way. She would ferociously interrogate lovingly ask every soul until she figured out what was happening. Honestly, she should’ve worked for the government. So really, refraining from telling anyone was just for their safety (no hard feelings).

Needless to say, I had to keep this to myself for quite some time. Every time Dede would even hint about marriage, I would talk so negatively about it, that it would almost bring her to tears (HEY – DON’T JUDGE ME! Refer to paragraph above. I really, REALLY had to throw her off). It wasn’t until one week before, that I told my roommate about proposing. And here is the kicker – I waited until two days before to ask permission from her mom and dad (including all 5 of her aunts…that’s how Arabs roll).

Now – things you need to know about Dede to help you understand:

  1. She lived in San Marcos at the time
  2. 11:11 is like her thing, before it was a thing
  3. She was super into Austin….definitely after it was a thing
  4. She was/is into sunsets, sunrises, sun-anything….ask anyone. I’m sure it’s unhealthy.
  5. She assumed I wouldn’t propose until after she graduated (Something I constantly said to throw her off…again, refer to above)

Ok – knowing those details, I knew I needed to propose to her in Austin, while watching the sunset, on 11/11/11, wayyy before she graduated.

FIRST STOP. We had a picnic at Zilker park. To be completely honest, I literally did not listen to a word she was saying during our picnic. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I was in panic mode. And if you know me, I talk constantly (just look at how long this post is). Dede thought for sure I was listening so intently, since I didn’t say a word and was constantly nodding my head while repeating “uh huh” consistently (take notes gentlemen). But seriously – panic mode. I needed to get her to Mount Bonnell for sunset.

PROPOSAL. We get to Mount Bonnell where my awesome roommate had set up the table with pictures of Dede and I and roses everywhere. Oh – and a candle lit walkway to the table. Seriously, it kind of surprised me too.

Anyways – we walk up the mountain, and finally when I catch my breath (there’s like a 1000 steps to get up that thing….stop judging me again) we see the candles. I start heading that direction and Dede constantly begins saying “It’s not for us, stop walking that way!”. Well, since I’m such dangerous dude, I just kept walking and told her to come along. Somehow….it worked.

THE GOOD STUFF. She sees the pictures – she turns around – I’m on one knee – and she CRIES. Not like a little cry – like one of these cries (skip to :16). My mind began racing. Was I too negative about the marriage thing? Was she trying to tell me no? Keep in mind, I was in attendance for this major rejection at a Rockets game just a few years before. In all honesty – my mind was it’s own worst enemy. That one second felt like an eternity.

Well to cut to the chase – she obviously was crying out of joy (tsh duh, I totally knew that)…and she couldn’t stop. I wasn’t sure if it was a good thing or bad thing, but the pictures are great! (Thanks bro!)

AND TO THE POINT. Now, why all this on our wedding anniversary? People always talk about the wedding (and ours was pretty awesome. I mean let’s be real, Dede knows what she’s doing…see last years post here), but the proposal for me is what started this whole adventure for Dede and I.

Sappy stuff plus brownie points. That picture – that response – that girl. It means everything to me. It shows Dede’s loving personality that makes her so contagious to everyone. It signifies the start of a journey between me and my best friend. Looking at the past five years, not only would I not want to have spent it with anyone else, but I feel so overly lucky/blessed/fortunate – pick whatever word – that she even wants to be in any part of my life, let alone my wife. From that point on, my adventure of life has been the greatest adventure ever. I literally love everything about her, almost to a fault. I do pray constantly that I’m being an awesome husband for her. Because honestly, she deserves it. I tend to suck at it most of the time, but she’s always so constantly forgiving and gracious. That’s just who she is.

I leave you with a verse that has guided us through our adventure.  1 John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us”. In all honesty, understanding that we are underserving of His love, really reminds me of how undeserving I am of Dede, and makes me love her even more (pretty much impossible, cuz I friggin love her a ton).

K cool – long post over. Now we celebrate in Mexico!

and a few wedding photos! Full wedding post here.

10 Top Nordstrom Sale Last Chances!

I can’t believe the Nordstrom anniversary is coming to an end! I kinda am REALLY sad about it because it has been so fun / challenging styling these fall outfits (especially in Houston)! What I like about this sale is that these items aren’t being liquidated, they are just going back to normal price. They are in season items! PS I REALLY hope that was a refresher or I have failed at my job at letting you know what the sale hype is all about!

Anyways, I recommend snatching whatever your heart desires, try it on, and if you don’t like it, just take it back! Nordstrom is KNOWN for their free shipping and seamless returns! I wouldn’t recommend waiting until after the sale, because that was me last year y’all! I think I waited to shop until like 11:50 the night of and instantly regretted waiting.

Anyways, I wanted to share 10 items that I think we all have overlooked during the sale that is considered a must have in my book (& ALL ARE FULLY STOCKED)! You can check out my private sale post here and public access sale post here. You never know, those Adidas or Kate Spade shoes EVERYONE went crazy over, may be restocked (they either restocked or someone returned a size). Go through those posts and click on whatever you had your eye on, you never ever know!! I also have been updating the Nordstrom Sale category tabs above on the daily!

PS this list is based on everyone’s absolute favorite picks + my favorite picks! I have a TON of #nsale finds at home but these were the items I think you will be missing out on if you don’t snag em!

Don’t forget all items are fully stocked (or at least when I published this post)! & I saved my favorite look for last!

1. White Tee

This babe is a MUST and was everyone’s favorite! I think this is the perfect time to stock up on basics like a tee because I don’t think you can ever have too many of them in your closet! I am wearing the white in small, and putting an order for the grey ebony and black. I mean the price is unbeatable and so is the quality!

2. Slides

I have been getting a few questions about these babes and I can’t recommend them enough. I have worn them everyday for the past week because they are SO practical yet stylish. They are a little fashion risky but it’s always good to step out of your comfort zone and try something knew! That’s what I did last year when I got them and I ain’t turning back. They are true to size! I have had so many people say they got them in the mail and absolutely LOVE them (which makes me SO happy)!

3. Grey Jeans

I haven’t had a chance to share these babes with you all yet! I am so excited I shoot this look and get to show off how flattering these jeans are. Color pants aren’t really my jam this year, but grey jeans like these get a pass! Especially for fall! I am wearing a size 0!

4. Sweater

I think what blows me away is the $22 price tag on this sweater. I mean that is a STEAL. Especially a black and white striped sweater. I mean you can’t go wrong. Yeah, it has holes in it, but they are tiny and it gives it character. I considered this my summer sweater and styled it in a full post here!

5. Weekender Bag

I think its officially time to ditch our Vera Bradley middle school bags (so sad, I love mine) and go for a more sophisticated weekender bag! I was so surprised to see this apart of the sale because its really a bag you can carry all year long. I have had this bag for about a week and already have used it so much! It also matches with all my luggage so I will be taking it with me this weekend to Mexico! Seriously a must! PS this flannel is also on sale!

6. Satin Top

This top is a show stopper and on sale for $30! I am debating on grabbing the black version because it would be the perfect date night top! The cold shoulder, bow ties, and satin / pj look ties in all the fall trends that are hot right now. I kinda am in shock that this babe is still fully stocked because it was everyone’s favorite!

7. Adidas Tank

I jumped for joy when I saw this tank restocked in ALL sizes last night! It was everyone’s favorite and rightfully so. The price is unbeatable and the fact that Adidas has made a comeback is so exciting! I work out in this tank every chance I get and there is a 99% chance I will be wearing it today to work out in too! It’s also a fun graphic tee that could easily be styled with black jeans, booties, and a denim jacket! So cute!

8. Sweater

This top was a crowd favorite and oh so darling! It is boxy like a sweater, amazing material, and super feminine ruffles. It def does a good job at hiding my food baby at dinner! I think its such a cute spin on a sweater!

9. Mesh Blouse

I def kept my best 2 favorite pieces for last. I mean where have these pieces been the entire Nordstrom sale?! I think this look deserves an entire blog post to itself because HOW DARLING. This mesh top is precious beyond words and I can totally start wearing it now. It comes in white and black and fully in stock!

10. Leather Shorts

If you live in Houston or anywhere warm, these are the perfect transitional pieces. I went back and looked at what I wore in November / December last year and I was in shorts. These shorts would have definetly come in handy for those hot fall / winter days! These leather shorts are SO on trend and super comfy too (under $50)!
