This asymmetrical sweater comes in the prettiest color I ever did see and I went crazy over it when I put it on. I paired it with some light color hues like white denim (bc white denim for me is all year round) and my favorite OTK boots. Hubs and I spent the last couple days in Boulder / Denver with some friends so I wanted to list out real quick our favorites incase you ever find yourself in Boulder or Denver.
Zeal: (Boulder) Perfect healthy / typical denver place. We came here for breakfast but I also have been here for lunch and all of their salads are so good.
Fresh Thymes: (Boulder) Another yummy healthy spot
Laughing Goat: (Boulder) Little coffee shop on Pearl street. We worked here for a little one day and it was just the cutest.
Foolish Craigs: (Boulder) good for brunch!
Meadowlark: (Denver) We went here for dinner and drinks the last night with the guys and it was so yum. The burger was so good but we all were a little confused what sauce was in it.
*Zoe Mama: (Denver) Was such in a good location and was the perfect authentic Asian food. SO GOOD.
Flat Iron: (Boulder) I love love love this hike! This was my second time and it’ such a fun hike. There are multiple trails and is an adventure.
Estes Park: Say no more. Just google this place, and you will be in awe. So much to see, hike and do here.
Union Station: This was in Downtown, Denver and was a fun little stroll. Full of restaurants, famous Ice Cream shops, etc.
Red Rocks is another fun place to go but we didn’t get a chance too this time around! Attending a worship concert here would be a dream!
We were in Boulder / Denver for a quick two days so we basically ate and hung out with family and friends but it is definitely one of my favorites!
I figured if I didn’t immediately post my #traveltuesday, I end up procrastinating and typically never get around to posting a travel guide (I still owe a Dublin & Barcelona post). We spent the weekend in Memphis and I am so excited to share things we did just incase you ever did find your self in this city. I was so excited to head to Memphis for foliage but little did I know its still considered the “south” and foliage was hard to find. Luckily we found ourselves at a park on Saturday and found these pretty trees to welcome fall weather.
It seemed like everything was only a 15-20 minute car ride so location isn’t huge. We stayed at a Hilton 15 minutes from the airport since that is where the conference was held. We did check out the Peabody hotel and it was so cute! Loved the ambiance in the lobby and the view from the rooftop. We watched sunset from the Peabody and visited their little ducky farm on the rooftop.
Rendezvous BBQ: If you are looking for some famous Memphis bbq then this is your place. It’s full of history and right across the street from Peabody. The boys weren’t to impressed with their ribs (they call themselves bbq conesiours) but it also was a dry rub which us Texans aren’t huge about. Their baked beans was pretty much the best beans I have had in my life, they were smoked – yum.
*Gus’ Fried Chicken: Now this place is well known and yummy. I am such a sucker for fried chicken. Idk what gets into me but I love them.
Kooky Canuc: We came here after Rendezvous for dessert and got the Pazookie. Yes we ate bad bad bad this weekend. Lots of room service and desserts and yesterday we paid for it at the gym.
Arcade Restaurant: traditional / classic American diner – One of the oldest restaurants in Memphis
The Beauty Shop: Unique place for brunch – old 1960s hair salon
Memphis Pizza Cafe: A bunch around Memphis for some good thin/ crispy pizza
Ernestine & Hazels: Good late night burger spot. Old brothel back in the 1900s that you can explore on the 2nd floor.
*Civil Rights Museum: We didnt go inside the museum but this was a good spot to learn more about MLKs assassination and read more into history. You can see exactly where the bullet was shot and where MLK was standing without going into the museum.
Sun Studio: We passed by the studio but it was the famous studio that Elvis recoded his first record.
Graceland: This is like Elvis museum on his property. You can tour his house, his private jet, eat his favorite meal, do the whole nine yards in remembrance of Elvis.
*Peabody hotel: I mentioned the Peabody above but this is a cute hotel to see ducks swimming in fountains and watch the sunset on the roof (I’m such a sunset chaser). Probably one of my favorite parts of the trip!
Bass Pro Shop: you know you’re not in a big city when Bass Pro Shop is on the list BUT its a pretty unique huge shop. It’s also shaped as a large pyramid that you can see across the highway.
Walk along the Mississippi River: just a nice park to be able to walk the river and see beautiful views.
Wiseacre Brewery: A fun spot to sit outside!
Shop: we stopped by Germantown to visit some ladies from Anthropology and it was a cute little shopping center filled with a variety of shops!
(Italics: Alice’s recommendations which we didn’t get a chance to visit – thanks girl for the travel guide)
So I went to A LOT of shows during NYFW and watching the runway was probably the most memorable part of my trip. The lights, models, people, make up, outfits were so on point I wanted to share each show that I attended real quick and either trends / pieces that stood out to me. Keep in mind I was at the Spring 2017 shows so these are all items we won’t be seeing until 2017 but it’s always good to stay a head of the curve 🙂 You can also certainly incorporate some of these pieces now since its still hot outside! Like in the outfit above this flirty pink is my absolute favorite and I decided to girly up the ripped camo denim that I can’t get over. Luckily all sizes are still left and under $50. On trend and on point!
*Noon By Noor: Lots of neutrals & sheer fabric. This was my first show so I was very goo goo gah gah during the entire show. The neutral colors and sheer fabrics were so flirty I couldn’t keep my eyes off of them and definitely gained lots of inspiration from this show.
*Marissa Webb: What really caught my eye was the silky materials which I was inspired by and blogged about here. This was my favorite show of them all and I am not sure if it was because I was wearing this Marissa Webb shirt and felt super cool or the amount of iconic ladies were in the room that I looked up too OR the fact that I landed FRONT row at Marissa Webb. I was let alone surprised I got in. Anyway along with the silky fabric lots of leather came into play along with dark greens and white (which was my outfit to the event – here – I felt right at home)!
Fashion Palette: So this was a mix of brands which I thought was pretty cool. It was also a mix of categories from ball gowns to night gowns. Tons of different styles which was super fun!
Misha Collection: This particular show I had some pieces that I was obsessed with and others I wasn’t crazy about. This collection consisted of leopard, gold fringe, monochromatic, and very sexy going out kinda looks. Leather and lace were also on the menu!
*Tadashi Shoji: Sad this was one of my favorites but the photos are not out! I’ll be sure to share in the next post the photos. I remember very fun and elegant pieces. This show was also so special to me since I actually have been a fan of Tashi before I was invited and it was in the big runway showroom which felt like a dream. I ALSO ran into my old bride and groom waiting in line which was super crazy! My old bride and groom was Crystal Stewart ( Mrs. Usa 2008) along with her Belgium prince. You can find their wedding here. They actually where my last wedding so hold a dear place in my heart!
Dan Liu: I scored front row at this one and I did like some dresses but nothing wowed me. I did have friends that loved this show so you can see how every one is different. I also believe that is the beauty of fashion – we all have different taste buds and there is so much fashion to go around. Lots and lots of dresses were showcased and was a Parisian themed show. We all were introduced with red roses at our seat and Dan Liu himself sat at a Parisian like table for his finale. It was cute!
Click on the names of the shows to take you to the gallery. As you can see I went to A LOT of shows – I have 6 more which I will be sharing at a later post. I was in New York for fashion week for a full week and I had a jam pack schedule everyday so it was a lot to take in. I am not going to lie all of the shows kinda are mumble jumbled in my head but the ones that stood out to me have an * – luckily I have photos to go back on for memory because I am going to need them once Spring comes around.
You can visit Things I learned during NYFW here. I am getting tons of emails about how to get into shows so I maybe working on a post ONLY if you all are interested – so let me know 🙂
Amazon prime always becomes my best friend when prepping for a trip. My lovely mail lady knows when a trip is coming when I receive a mass amount of boxes (Side note: I think of my mail lady as my co – worker and love that women haha). I usually come up with the most random necessities that really are helpful with last minute emergencies while on vacation & hello 2 day shipping. Here is my list of 10 randoms:
1. Fashion tape: You never ever know when something is too big or too small.
2. Dry shampoo: Washing my hair everyday on trips is impossible. Dry shampoo really does the trick.
3. Stickies. Umm I recently just found out about stickies (re-usable kind) and they have saved my life. I absolutely hate bras so this has been a total game changer.
4. Gum: because no one likes stinky breathe and I rather have gum come to my door than I go inside a gas station.
5. A good straightener: I finally got a T3 straighter and let me tell you I no longer will be going back to my old one. A fast good straightener is perfect to style your hair in a hurry!
6. Long Charger: I know non apple chargers are not good for your phone but when I am laying in my hotel bed and the outlet for the charger is 6ft away, a 10ft charger saves the day.
7. Portable Charger: You can tell how important my phone is by my necessities lol I bought two portable chargers to take with me through out the day so I hopefully will never run into a dead battery problem
8. A note pad/calendar: I like to plan out my days the old fashion way with a good ol pen and paper. My entire schedule is pre – uploaded on my google calendar (thanks babe) but something about having it all out in front of me calms my nerves
9. Spanx: I usually pack some comfy volleyball spanx and some tight legit spanx for those dresses that need a little more oomph. I get so uncomfortable when I don’t have spanx on under my dress, I feel like anything can happen and I rather not be that person.
10. A cute bag: now I didn’t order this from Amazon but I did order it from Sole Society and it has to be the cutest weekender bag on the market. Something about traveling in style with my luggage makes me not feel so blah. I was actually worried they wouldn’t consider this weekend bag as my “personal item” but luckily I got in with out having to check in any bags. It was a win win and I plan on taking this bag everywhere with me! s’cute.
You can find my outfits for NYFW packed in my suitcase under the shop then NYFW tab or here. Oh yes & aren’t these camo jeans the cutest?! I plan on wearing them with a pink peplum top for one of my looks while I am here.
