I had so much fun throwing my cousin/best friend her bridal shower last month!! Her bachelorette party and wedding is coming up this month and I will be sharing on stories, but I wanted to share this special event as well! Since I do miss hosting events and wedding planning, I took full advantage of my Maid of Honor duties by teaming up with my favorite Houston vendors. The Unicorn theme was definitely a no-brainer.  They met on Tinder and her bio said “basically looking for a unicorn” and he messaged her with a unicorn emoji! So cute!! The most difficult part when planning these events is finding a theme but once you get an idea it all easily falls into place! I also believe working with the right vendors in my experience can make your vision come to life!

I found this space from one friends over at Sugar & Cloth since I knew I wanted a plain white studio this venue was perfect! Photography is also key because that is all you have after the event is over! I’m so thankful for all these moments captured from Smith House Photos! The stationary adds a perfect touch to each event and Amal Gamation handled everything so well!  Also, a unicorn theme could potentially go wrong and turn out super cheesy, but Maria’s Desserts made it so elegant! I proposed the idea of a plain unicorn face on the cake(lol) and she came back with the cake above which was so perfect!! All of her Unicron details had every guest in awe! Another aspect that plays a huge part at an event is floral and linen! House of Hough and Swift Events hold near and dear to my heart!

Thanks for stopping by and sorry I’ve been totally slacking on my post this week!

Welp! I am back! And only not because tomorrow is our 6 year anniversary. Plus, it’s always nice to get some brownie points do something nice for your wife with no expectation for anything in return. And this, I promise, is the sole purpose of this blog post.

The post is separated into 2 sections. The first is, the outfit. And lucky you because I have a terrible an incredible eye for fashion lol. And second, are the 6 tips to why I think marriage is easy w/ Dede (not that I am married to anyone else lol).

Outfit time
Unfortunately, there are some facts that I do know.
1. The Nordstrom sale ends Sunday night. Yes. I didn’t even have to fact check. This stuff is tattooed in my head, courtesy of marrying a fashionista.
2. The guys portion is actually really legit.

Alright, so this is where things get weird and I am 100% doing this out of the sheer fact that I love Dede more than anything. But I am about to describe the fit and feel of the clothes (sheesh typing that out made me cringe a little lol).

The Jeans: I love jeans that fit like sweatpants (and every dude should). You gotta be prepared in case you need to karate kick somebody, and if jeans don’t allow you to be super flexible, then its out! So you guys can thank me later, this pair of jeans gives you all the flexibility and freedom you need.

The Shirt: Short sleeves 100%. Easy fit, highlights the arms (100% bro-approved) and breathable.

The Shoes: Feel great to me – not sure how to evaluate shoes lol

Ok now on to the other stuff…

Tomorrow is our 6 year anniversary and honestly, time has flown by! It has been absolutely incredible and I couldn’t have imagined it to be this easy. I mean, of course there have been “downs” in our marriage and it is hard work. For instance, just this past week I am pretty sure Dede bought a 47th rug for our house, in which I ended up returning our 46th rug this year…….who does that!? Lol

But in the best way that I can, I want to share 6 tips on what makes marriage easy for us:

  1.  We have Dory-like memory (finding nemo anyone?)
    • Don’t make those 5 minute problems into 5 day problems.
    •  Resolve, forgive and ask for forgiveness, understand, and move on. Understanding that little things are not worth turning into big things. Quick to forgive, quick to understand your spouse, quick to move on and grow together.
  2. We do everything we can to help the other win
    • When she wins, I win! And when I win, she wins! Teammates, not competitors.
  3. We don’t take life that seriously
    • Sure, for some things, take seriously. But the best part about marriage is ENJOYING your spouse. Relax a little and brighten up. It will be alright lol
  4. Work in progress
    • We know that we aren’t going to get it right 100% of the time and that we still have to learn more about each other. But the key is, KNOWING THAT WE HAVE TO LEARN.
  5. HYPE UP YOUR SPOUSE
    • You guys have that friend that hypes you up? Don’t you want them around like 24/7? Lol everybody needs encouragement. Hype up your spouse like they are the biggest deal ever, and actually start to think it too lol.
  6. Common ground
    • There’s going to come a point when BIG issues do come up. What is going to be the deciding factor? Who makes the decision?
    • Our faith has come through countless times in these scenarios. We both are accountable to it, we both know our spouse lives off of it. This not only provides guidance in marriage, but also builds up trust in each other when decisions need to be made. Not saying it is impossible to have a good relationship without it, just can’t imagine it makes things easy.

ALRIGHT! YOU DID IT! (or you just scrolled to the bottom lol)

SORRY YOU READ ALL THAT!

Late peeps

Mini Condo Home Tour

I am so excited to share a glimpse of our little condo today! It has been a long time coming since we have been in this space for about a year and a half. Time flies so fast, I can’t believe it! I actually should share the before pictures of our place because they are horrendous! It has been such a dream of ours to live in the city, in a high rise, and I can’t believe it has been a reality! We really are obsessed with the condo life and our little space! It has allowed us to be very minimalistic since we don’t have that much space. I am not sure exactly what you would call my tatse in decorating. I am really ALL over the place. One day I will want an all neautral house and another day I crave fun pops of color. Hence why we have already changed up everything about a billion times and I have plans to change up a few things a couple more times!

In reality, this place is not ready AT ALL! I have so much work to do and changes to be done but I thought I would share what I have now. Especially since idk if I ever will be 100% done/satisfied with a room! We have gone through about a million and one different rugs, pillows, color schemes, etc and I know I am being a little physcho! Fashion is so easy since you can easily replace a shirt but a rug is no joke. Anyways with our further ado, here is the space we have so far!

PS // Some items are on sale and the sale ends this Sunday the 5th so be sure to snag them! I have lost hundreds of dollars trying to return rugs etc that haven’t worked but Nordstrom has stayed true to their free shipping free returns EVEN with home decor which has been a game changer! I only thought about it about 4 months too late but oh well I got some cute stuff apart of their sale that I will link below and on stories!

Couch: The Silver Coast Company | Rug: Safavieh 8×11 (on sale) | Pillow 1: West Elm (on sale) | Pillow 2: Homegoods (similar) | Pillow 3: Nordstrom (on sale) | Blue Chair: Lamps Plus | Painting: High Fashion Home | Curtains: Pottery Barn | Curtain Rod: Amazon

We found this couch randomly on google and looking back, we kinda were crazy! Thankfully the website was legit and we love this couch! We bought the full set but decided to take a few blocks out to give the room more space. Everyone warned us about a white couch but I was stubborn. I now take over my aunt when people come over and warn them that I have a white couch and to be careful with their red wine and messy Cheeto hands haha! It really isn’t practical but has worked for us so far! It also is easy to clean since the entire thing is a slip!

Console Table: Lamps Plus | Mirror: Overstock | Candle: Capri Blue | Starburst: Lulu and Georgia | Blue Vase: It was passed down from my aunt! | Pink face jar: High Fashion Home | Blue Spike Candle: Nordstrom (on sale) | Lamp: So I got the lamp stand from Home Goods and then just went on Etsy and bought the shade! Here is the exact shade I ordered!

Wine Rack: Nordstrom (sale) | Kitchen Runner: Nordstrom (sale)

Table: Restoration Hardware | Chairs: Wayfair | Wallpaper: Similar
| Zebra Rug: World Market | Garland: Target | Vases: World Market

Console: Amazon | Lamp: Lulu & Georgia  | Velvet Ottomans: Lulu & Georgia | Rug: Nordstrom (on sale)

Bar Stools: Ballard Design

Hope you enjoy all my home decor! As things are coming in I will be adding them to my home decor tab here!

A Look

Top: Wayf | Skirt: Blanknyc | Boots: Brinkley | Hat: Peter Grimm | Watch: Michael Kors

So whats funny is, I have been wearing some sort of this look for years now. I always find myself styling a mini skirt with some black over the knee boots, a black tank to match, and a black hat! I remember one of my very first IG posts was a look similar to this. You can find the baby Dede post here! It is a timeless go-to, especially during transitional wear! The weather was sooooo up and down in Canada during our visit. It would be in the low 40s and next thing you know its in the 70s. I was just carrying my leather jacket and I was dandy! But even a cardigan would be cute with this look!

Everything I am wearing is a part of the Nordstrom Sale that is ending this weekend, August 5th! A lot of the pieces sold out so fast and I am so bummed about that! There are sizes popping up here and there so I would recommend keeping an eye out for them! All prices go back up after the 5th! Tomorrow I will be sharing a mini home tour, Friday I will be sharing my NSALE mens and it’s our 6th wedding anniversary! Next week I promise to do a recap of our trip to Banff! See you all then and thanks for stopping by 🙂
