Puerto Vallarta Casa Velas

I’m not sure if you know this, but traveling with my husband is probably my favorite thing to do. Not only does he take care of everything while we are traveling, but we have so much stinking fun together! We decided SUPER last minute, like days before to book an anniversary trip. I’ve been to a Velas property before, see post here, so we were so excited to check out their boutique version in Puerto Vallarta. Especially since we have never been to Puerto Vallarta before! Ted and I love smaller resorts where we don’t feel like another number. Massive chain resorts are so overwhelming so that is why we got so excited when we discovered that Casa Velas only has 80 rooms. What was awesome was, we literally ended up being the only ones at the resort. Besides like 3 other rooms occupied, we felt like the resort was ours! We definitely went on off season (SO HOT) but really, it was SO nice. Ted and I honeymooned at a resort similar where there were only 15 huts in the resort, so this is definitely our type of vacation!

Oh & hope you enjoy the video! Ted spent hours editing and I am so excited he is getting into this vlogging! I am so impressed with his video / editing skills. Good job boo! These videos are so special for us to have and watch back!

Rooms: So in total there are about 80 rooms. Definitely a small resort which we LOVED. WE are such boutique goers and not a fan of massive hotels. The room we stayed at was spacious and we had our own private small pool over looking the golf course. We totally took advantage of the pool one day!

Staff: The staff was very personal and friendly. I’m pretty sure there had to have been a 3 to 1 ratio of Staff to guests. They were everywhere and everything was on a first name basis which was SO nice!!

Food: Had a great variety and was superb! We met the chef, Emilio. I especially loved the dinners which were so nice. Ted couldn’t get over the cheese bread. We also LOVED breakfast. Fruit, salmon lox, bacon, the entire shibang! Definitely good food compared to other all inclusives I have been too.

Beach: Beach club had a great sunset view and was great for dinner. One thing, there was no natural shade by the pool (there were a few huts) and there are people trying to sell you items if you go to the beach. We only spent a few minutes here during the day. If you are looking for more of a beach resort, I would choose the Cancun property over Puerto Vallarta. We didn’t mind hanging out at the pool all day at the all inclusive! On day 2, the pool was JUST ours. Literally no one was there so we spent our entire day there.

Activities: We were never bored at the hotel. There were SO many activities to choose from. We had one day where we didn’t plan an activity and the rest we took advantage of the beer / margarita tasting, yoga, and spa. The spa had to have been my favorite part. The couples massage was the absolute best

Bodysuit: Topshop | Skirt: Topshop| Heels: Steve Madden

Sometimes, taking a step out of your typical outfit comfort zone is good for the soul. That is exactly what I did with this denim skirt. I told myself, “I don’t think I’ll ever fall into the denim skirt trend”, but that usually never lasts long. It’s always good to try something new and I instantly new this skirt would get me out of my stubbornness of me boycotting denim skirts. Especially since it had such character (the wrap touch) and not similar to my middle school denim skirt #stillcute. Also pairing an item with something that you are LOVING helps, in this case, bodysuits for me! I have had such a love for them since they are SO comfortable and keep everything in. I especially love bodysuits when I am wearing something high waisted. This bodysuit is such a beautiful trendy color and loving the sexy lace detail! I am wearing a US 4 in both items! Literally this mix is Palm Spring vibes all the way, which totally made me miss Palm Springs, btw!

I am headed to Arizona tomorrow, so this outfit will probably make its way in my suitcase! I imagine Arizona to be a lot like Palm Springs! I am not sure exactly where we are going in Arizona (I should look at my ticket) but I do know lots or R&R, a spa day, hot air ballon, atvs, and eating will be happening with my Chateau Cocomar family!! Literally I am SO blessed to still be invited to these team trips. My time with them is always a blast and I don’t think I ever laugh as much as when I am with them!

Jeans: Express | Top: Express  | Necklace: Express

Recently, I have been denim crazy and it’s so weird because I don’t really like wearing pants. Either everyone’s jeans have gotten incredibly comfortable or I don’t mind pants anymore. Whatever it is, I am so excited to share these high-waisted goodness because they are my current favorite! I have been wearing them everyday this entire week, and even wore them on the plane ride home from Puerto Vallarta! Wearing jeans on the plane is a big step for me, so that is saying something! I also love how distressed they are and the raw hem is my favorite part! I am wearing a size 2 (short – I am 5’3) for reference, but I always know it’s kinda hard to shop online for jeans. I prefer going into the store and trying them on OR I will order 2 sizes and just return one.

&& here’s the deal, if you go into Express to try on some denim and use code 1172, you will get $25 off your in-store purchase of $100+ (now until 9/15)!!! I definitely am sharing that code with all my friends & family. Especially since Express always has sale items, these jeans + everything else in store really comes down to a steal!

I also ordered these and these to stock up on fall denim (will share them on IG stories). Oh and this top is another throw on basic to add to my closet! It comes in a couple colors. I also ordered A LOT of cute items from Express and I am sharing them on my stories today! Oh && I ordered this cross necklace and I have been stacking it with my other chokers. I have gotten so many questions, so be sure to check it out here!

Happy Friday darlings! We were going to go to San Antonio to float the river, etc but we decided to cancel and rest at home. We love weekends at home (getting stuff done) as much as getaways so we are excited to be here!

Hair Curl Tutorial

Curling Wand: Nume | Hair Spray: Murula | Texture Spray: Dry Bar
Dry Shampoo: Dry Bar | Hair Ties: Invisibobble |Brush: Dry Bar | Shampoo / Conditioner: Gold Well |Heat Protector: Aveda | Cardigan: Madewell | Top: Madewell

Yayyy I absolutely love when I get asked how I curl my hair because it’s one of my favorite parts of the day! To see the transition from my natural hair to my bouncy textured hair is the best. Especially since growing up, I had the frizziest, curliest, arab hair there ever was! Now that I have learned to tame it, I love it! I listed all the hair products in this post and also made a collage of my must have products. FYI in this video I am wearing tape in extensions. Since then, I got the natural beaded row extensions. I will be doing a blog post on the NBR extensions in the next couple weeks! I curl my hair the SAME exact way no matter if I have extensions or not.

I hope this video / my tips help you achieve the curls you are going for! Let me know if you have any questions and if you enjoy these type of videos 🙂
