London Recap

Ok, so London. Absolutely lovely, but a little more dispersed than Paris. Let’s start on how we got there. We took the Eurostar train from Paris to London. It was very convenient and just a 2-hour train ride (I spent the whole time eating Laduree macaroons from Paris!!). The train dropped us off at the train station (duh), where we took an Uber to our hotel. Again, like the Paris post, I am going to lay out where we ate, stayed and toured.

  • Sketch
  • Uh, SUCH A DREAM! I loved everything about this place! The seating, the food, the ambience, the art (very, very different) and even the bathrooms. They had a bar area, which was very inviting! If you are in London, this is a must! Make reservations! Also be sure to check out the bathrooms. Such a treat.
  • Aqua Shard
    • If you are looking for a nice romantic spot that over looks the city, I would highly recommend this place (Oh, and ask for a window seat!). The views are amazing! The ambience is perfect and the food was lovely. A little on the pricey side, but hey, what do you expect when you get a 5-star view.
  • Peggy Porschen
    • This place is soooo ADORABLE! All sweets and we got coffee but I just loved how everything looked. Absolutely great for pictures :)
  • Wright Brothers Oyster House SOHO
    • We enjoyed this place, although not our first choice. It is right off of Regent St., which makes it practical to stop by if you are doing some shopping! They also have great $1 oysters for happy hour which was fun!
  • Burrough Market
    • You come here for the experience. Walk around, check out a few vendors, buy some stuff and share! Loved the unique style and especially the history of the place. Our tour guide mentioned this was one of the first markets that were set up some time when the Romans ruled the area (Ted explained this to me, not that I was listening to a history lesson, lol) I got asian dumplings that were YUMM & Ted got a duck wrap which I still think about.
  • Churchill Arms
    • Come here for the Pub. Interesting set up, but a very cool place. Ted loved it!
  • Dishoom
    • Ok I was SOOOO surprised by how many direct messages I had from people recommending this place. Sadly we ran out of time and didn’t get a chance too but it must be good by how many messages I got! I don’t think I have collectively gotten so many recommendations for a restaurant so it must be amazing. I need to make another trip back just to try it!

  • Toured:
    • London is so spread out! It wasn’t like Paris, where everything is within a 5 minute drive. London took about 10-20 minutes by car to see everything. Needless to say, Ted convinced me to get on one of those Hop-on, Hop-off buses (go with the one that has the live tour guide). Lots of lots of history in this city! And just absolutely beautiful! Be sure to check out all the hot spots! I just enjoyed sitting on a bus and sightseeing from one spot.

  • Stayed:
    • H10 Waterloo
      • This is a little further out, but the price is fantastic for what you get. Plus, just a 5-10$ Uber to anywhere you want to go. They also have a fantastic rooftop bar that has a beautiful view of the city. The room was a tad small but all updated and brand-new which was nice. I would recommend staying away from rooms service food though, not worth!
    • Marriott Hotel County Hall
      • This one is right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle and also such a beautiful hotel. A little on the pricey side, but still, worth it if you don’t want to waste time driving around. We stopped by to check it out and prob will consider staying here next time!
    • Shangri-La at the Shard
      • Noticing a trend? Shrangri-la does it right. Elegance, glamour and views. This place is fantastic. So if you’re willing to spend a little more, I would definitely recommend!
