Let’s Talk Mini Givenchy

Y’all, these have to be my favorite photos yet. How magical does Central Park look? We woke up early yesterday and went straight to the park to explore since New York had a small overnight snow fall. We could not stop smiling, it was such a magical experience! I wanted to talk about my Givenchy mini antigona purse today since I have received lots of questions. I got it at Nordstrom a couple months ago after spending months eyeing it and I couldn’t be more in love with a purse! It’s probably my only designer purse that can be worn with a super casual outfit or with a dressier look! I especially think it is perfect while traveling or running out the door and needing just a purse to carry a few items in. I love wearing a designer bag with a causal outfit just to up the level of your look a tad. I have always been a huge believer of investing in a good designer bag over anything else!  This bag is so versatile I do always carry it to dinner as well with a more dressier look!

I absolutely love when Nordstrom carries the designer bags I have my eye on because of triple point days. It’s like a double win getting so many points while shopping designer items!

Plaid In The City

Dress: Modcloth | Coat: Steve Madden | Shoes: Kendall & Kylie | Lippie: Stila Biscotti

PLaid in the city

We arrived in New York yesterday and y’all, it is so magical here! I am here for a week, a little with my friend Emily and the other half with Ted’s family. I have been to New York multiple times but never during Christmas and I am so darn excited! I can’t believe I haven’t been to the city during all these festivities plus I made sure to wear plaid in the city to make it extra festive.

We have so much planned for the week and I thought what better time to share this Modcloth plaid dress + coat combo than my first day here in the city. Yes, I am freezing but you know I also shoot sweaters while it’s 100+ degrees outside so I don’t think I’ll ever win haha! Anyways, this coat is probably one of my favorite coats I brought on this trip so I couldn’t wait to share it. I may have brought a different coat for each day I am here! This dress is also so festive and perfect for any holiday events! Something about an oversized coat over a dress with some booties is one of my favorites. I usually always find myself on Modcloth’s website when looking for unique, stand out pieces and I love how this look turned out!

Ted and I decided to give gifts early this year and I love that I am able to share with them with you now to help gift your dad, husband, boyfriend, brother, aka any man in your life! Ted begged and begged to give gifts early this year and I was so confused why until I got my gift Saturday night. We are headed to London and Paris for New Years and the kid wants me to start planning haha! I was ok with giving his gifts early since this backpack and these headphones are meant for traveling! He has been traveling SO MUCH the past couple months so I thought I would step up his travel game with a sleek backpack! He honestly has had his eye on this babe for a while. He also has been going to work the past couple days with it too and I think it looks so darn good! As for the headphones, we both got iPhone X so wireless headphones are now a must. This would be our fifth Bose headset, obviously, we are big believers! A couple other things I got for him from Nordstrom was these happy socks (all he wears) and this pullover to match mine! Haha!

Ted called me last week and told me he wanted to exchange gifts on Saturday so I immediately got onto Nordstrom’s website and utilized the buy online and pick up in the store feature. Since I had an idea of what to get him, I didn’t want to hunt it all down in store when I could just pick it up instead! It’s a free service and honestly, that is how I have been doing 90% of my Christmas shopping!!

1. Headphones: He had to have these since he has the iPhone X & with the new headphone plug in figured it’s better to go wireless.

2. MVMT Watch:I like these watches because they are super minimalistic but also look very classic! Ted loves a classic watch look so I got him one!

3. Backpack: This was the gift that had him freaked out! He has been wanting this Tumi backpack for awhile so I figured it was time to get it for him!

4. Happy Socks:I can’t tell you the number of Happy Socks he has but I keep getting him more since he loves them so much!

5. Bleau De Chanel: You can’t have you man smelling bad so cologne is always the perfect gift! Plus you get to pick what he smells like! 🙂

6. Pullover: I may or may not have got this for the both of us! lol. This pullover is soooo soft & comfortable!

Our Christmas Tree Tricks

I am so excited to share our Christmas tree this year with you all! I know I am so late in the game but we have been traveling like crazy and I just found time to get the tree up and decorate it! I know 99% of you all probably already have your tree up but this is for the 1% or for tips for next years tree! I promise to have to have our tree up early next year and share this again 🙂 I learned LOTS of tips and tricks while working at a small ma and pa interior design shop all of high school and college! Christmas for me started during the summer when we would price out Christmas and start designing the trees in the store. I wish we had a tree like this in every room at our place because I have so much fun designing them!

TIP #1: BUY DIFFERENT SIZE / STYLE / Texture ORNAMENTS
Ornament #1 – This was the biggest ornament of them all. I only bought 3 & DISPERSED them
Ornament #2- I have about 12 of these bad babes and think they bring out the white / snowy feel
Ornament #3 – I only have 3 of these medium sized & you can’t really see them. I just wanted a few to match the velvet ribbon!
Ornament #4 – I bought 8 of these pink ones just for a fun touch! I know I wanted a pop of some color!
Ornament #5 – I also bought 8 of these and they remind me of bubbles. The perfect playful touch!
As for ribbon: I have two different textures / colors. I cut them about a foot long and just stick them in the tree. I don’t use any wire or any technique. Nothing is perfect and I just have them go different ways. Be sure to start with the ribbon then add the ornaments next!
It all started with this ribbon that I knew I had to have! I fell in love with the burgundy color and velvet fabric! So fun!
Champagne color ribbon: I had to have a color to compliment burgundy and mix gold / silver so a champagne color was perfect. Again I just cut it about a foot and stuck it in the tree. Make sure it’s fluffed up!

Sweater: J Crew (sale here) | Jeans: Topshop | Boots: UGGS | Earrings: Bauble Bar | Lippie: Stunning Milani (found at drug store) | Pillow: West Elm / West Elm | Blanket: Similar

A few take aways:

  • I started by spraying the tree with fake snow that can be found at Hobby Lobby
  • I got everything this year from Craftex in Houston
  • After the snow, start with your ribbon. Cut them 8-12 inches and just stick them different ways into the tree. No wire is needed!
  • Be sure to change the size of your ornaments and add different styles / colors
  • Come up with a color scheme but be sure to add a few ornaments to compliment the colors and not be too matchy matchy!

I hope some of these tips helped! Was so fun designing my tree this year and loved branching out from the traditional red and green or just gold! I promise to share the tree earlier next year!!
