I wore this ensemble to an event I hosted a couple of weeks ago and I loved it so much I had to of course blog about it! This yellow top is such a hard color to find but I have been wearing it non stop. I found a similar version here that is affordable. I have gotten some good use out of this yellow cami since I think it goes with my buttercup theme. Do you also think yellow when you hear the word buttercup?! Anyways, I tucked this top into these gingham paper bag shorts that I kind of am obsessed with. They are the perfect length and material that make me want to wear them all day long. All I have to do is add a fun color top and you got yourself the perfect summer outfit. I added the yellow earrings to emphasize the buttercup color!
Thanks for stopping by loves! I decided to forgo my #buttercupcrush (incase you noticed) today SINCE yesterday was a holiday so I didn’t post + I have so many exciting looks to share with you all. I promise it’ll be back next Tuesday. If you follow along on any of my social medias, you know Ted and I had our friends bachelor/bachelorette party this weekend both in Austin. I coordinated the girls weekend and eek it came out so stinking cute. Everything was adorable and I can’t wait to share with you all on Fridays post! Until then, see you tomorrow!
One question I got the other day was, “Can I wear a romper to a wedding?” My answer, “Why yes you can, but depends on what type of wedding you are going to.” Hubs and I have SIX weddings in the next 3 months, so wedding season has officially started for us! I also have received a couple of emails about what to wear to a wedding, so I thought it would be informative to let you know when it is appropriate to wear a romper. Do note, I do not think you can wear a romper to every wedding you are invited to, but below are five tips to keep in mind!
Take note of the…
Couple: Is the couple laid back? Are they typically casual or always fancy? If you are headed to a couples wedding that is laid back and does not pay attention to style/clothes, you are in the clear. If the couple is typically always dressed up and loves fashion, maybe something dressier will do. It’s always better be over dressed in my opinion!
Venue: The type of wedding venue really does play a role in the style of a wedding. I usually do research on the wedding venue before choosing what I want to wear to a couples’ special day. If the wedding is held at a small intimate out door wedding then a romper is appropriate. If the wedding is held at Chateau Cocomar, a long gown maybe a better choice. The type of wedding venue really does make a difference!
Invitation: It is true when they say “a wedding invitation really does set the tone for your wedding day.” The other day I received a very different, colorful, glass invitation and immediately was excited for their wedding. I then instantly thought I needed to get an outfit that is fun, bright, and lively. I also received two traditional invitations that I know will be very formal. The fun and stylish invitation is my selection to wear this romper to that wedding!
Time of Day: The time of day also plays an important role in the style of wedding you are headed too. A brunch or Sunday wedding is more of a casual scene but if you are headed to a Saturday night wedding, a more formal choice maybe a better choice.
Material of Romper: Now I am saying a romper can be worn at some type of weddings but not every romper. I wouldn’t go with a cotton or polyester romper since that is very casual for a special occasion. Rompers are already considered to be in the casual category, so a more dressier material is best. I would go with a polyester material like this romper. Material plays a huge role!
I am obsessed with the color of this strapless romper and the ruffle details. I knew I had to have it in my closet and I sure do plan to wear it to one of the few weddings we have coming up!
Note: I was a wedding planner a couple years ago at Chateau Cocomar (where these photos were taken), so I do know wedding attire! Actually, one of my favorite parts of coordinating a wedding was being able to stare at all the wedding guests outfits.
These shorts make me so happy and were a fab find when I was shopping with a friend the other day. I can’t find them online but I did find similar options here and here that are just as darling from Etsy. I paired it with this top because what else screams America than some stripes. I came across this adorable headband company and once I saw this patriotic headband I thought it would be perfect for all the fun summer festivities we have planned.
I love collecting red white and blue items because luckily we have three different holidays to celebrate our nations colors. I always get a good wear out of my patriotic finds since there is Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day all jammed in a three month spend. I love that Memorial Day is the kick off of it all!
Who’s excited for tomorrow to get here so we can start this Memorial day weekend?! I have been running around like a chickens head cut off because I have TWO fun photoshoot planned for today! On top of that, Saturday I have a one year old birthday party, graduation party, and then leave to a bachelorette party. I have been helping plan this bachelorette party and I won’t go into details but I have been stressed about where we are going to stay ALL week. The house we had booked fell through last minute (ALWAYS use airbnb and don’t agree to book outside of the site) so thankfully the JW Marriott Austin came to the rescue and is able to accommodate us. We are so excited to be staying at the beautiful hotel and can’t wait to share about our stay! What are y’all up to this Memorial day weekend? I can’t wait to hear about it!
Not sure if you have heard, but the PJ look is a hot trend at the moment. Anything that looks like it can be pjs/lingerie but appropriate enough to wear in public. I came across this shirt dress a couple of weeks ago and have been wearing it NON stop. I may have even slept in it one night then went straight to the mall with it on (shh). It is the perfect boyfriend button up but since my husbands arms are way longer than mine, his is always a fail. I have been wearing a slip under it since it is a little see through. Here I added a belt to give it a more structured look under my bathing suite. It was the perfect wrap since LA is still a little chilly at the beach. I also wore this linen boyfriend the other day with some white jeans and converse and was darling. I’ll be sure to share more of this linen top with a different combo soon. You can pretty much do everything with this shirt and I lover it.
We took these photos on the lovely beach of Hermosa yesterday. If you saw earlier this week mom asked me to join her and sissy on a one day trip to LAX. We woke up at the crack of dawn to go site seeing for the day. This was taken early morning hence still the dark clouds. None the less I always have a blast with mom and sissy and this shirt dress was the perfect throw on.
